About the Author
Ron Baratono is the author of the personal nonfictional short story “Family Reflections” and of poems such as “My Life,” “Dear Jesus,” “The Storm,” “Dark Clouds,” “God’s Strength,” and “My Sadness.” In addition, he has quotes that are read worldwide. He was born in Detroit, Michigan, and is the second of four children. From 1984 to 1985, Ron directed The Blarney Stone Show broadcast on Wayne Cable Television. From 1985 to 1990, Ron often performed community and dinner theater in Michigan. Ron was hired into the Auto Co. in 1977 at the age of eighteen, where he worked for thirty years. During that time, he still followed his passion for writing and acting. Ron studied at Northwood University and received his bachelor of business administration in 1995 while working full time. Ron is a dad, which he considers the most rewarding job there is. He is the proud father of two wonderful adult young men, who are the highlights of his life. Ron retired from the Auto Co. in 2007 at the age of forty-eight. Today, he continues to follow his passion for writing and acting, appearing in numerous films, including Disney’s Oz the Great and Powerful.

"The Writings of Ron Baratono," touches on so many of life's emotions that it is so hard to put down once you start reading. The poetry relating to God is phenomenal and the book is everything it claims to be. A very nice read and it would make an excellent gift for a special person in your life. Without a doubt this book is a 5 star rating! Enjoy it!

About the Author
Larry J. Siegel was born in the Bronx in 1947. While living on Jerome Avenue and attending City College of New York (CCNY) in the 1960s, he was swept up in the social and political currents of the time. He became intrigued with the influence contemporary culture had on individual behavior: Did people shape society, or did society shape people? He applied his interest in social forces and human behavior to the study of crime and justice. After graduating from CCNY, he attended the newly opened program in criminal justice at the State University of New York at Albany, earning both his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees there. After completing his graduate work, Dr. Siegel began his teaching career at Northeastern University and has also held teaching positions at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, Saint Anselm College in New Hampshire, and in the School of Criminology and Justice Studies at the University of Massachusetts at Lowell (UML). Now a Professor Emeritus, he continues to teach courses on criminology and criminal justice in UML'S online master's degree program. Dr. Siegel has written extensively in the area of crime and justice, including books on juvenile law, delinquency, criminology, corrections, criminal justice, and criminal procedure. He is a court-certified expert on police conduct and has testified in numerous legal cases.

John L. Worrall is Professor of Criminology at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD). A Seattle native, he received a B.A., double majoring in psychology and law and justice, from Central Washington University in 1994. Both his M.A. (criminal justice) and Ph.D. (political science) were received from Washington State University, where he graduated in 1999. From 1999-2006, he was a member of the criminal justice faculty at California State University, San Bernardino. He joined UTD in Fall 2006, was promoted to full professor in 2008, and in 2010 was selected to direct the criminology program, a position he held until 2015. He now directs UTD's executive M.S. program in Justice Administration and Leadership. Dr. Worrall has published articles and book chapters on a variety of topics ranging from legal issues in policing to crime measurement, having recently been ranked one of the most prolific sole and lead authors in the discipline. Courses he regularly teaches (and has authored texts for) include introductory criminal justice, criminal procedure, and crime control policy. Dr. Worrall is active in the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences, the American Society of Criminology, and a number of regional associations. He regularly works with local criminal justice agencies on evaluation projects and continues to serve as editor of the journal Police Quarterly.

This textbook came in perfect condition. It was essential for passing for the year, the material is well written and I definitely would recommend to a friend. The material was easy to understand if you read the book. The book does a decent job with describing the concepts in the class. I passed the class with this book, the professor literally read straight out of the book for every lecture... so i read the book instead of going to class. The book is soft covered and was nice and bright. it came in great condition for being a used book and I am very happy with the book. If i needed to take the course again I would buy the textbook. If you ever have to take intro to criminal justice buy this book! If you're interested in intro to criminal justice buy this book! Or just buy the book just because. I would really encourage you to get this book though. It is an easy read and i am very pleased with the quality of the text book. The book was really nice and I do not regret purchasing it. The only thing I wish this book was is cheaper. The cheaper the textbook the better haha. Amazon definitely had the cheaper price compared to other places and the sell back price was decent. I would really encourage you to buy this book for class, you will not regret it and you should do well in the course if you actually do the work! I finished the course with a B, if i would have went to class... the grade would have been higher. I recommend buying the book, reading the book and going to class.

I enjoyed some of this and some I did not

I enjoyed some of this and some I did not. First, I'd like to start off by saying I've always loved the Greek Gods. Ever since I was little I had a fascination with them. So, when I find books like this that are not YA I'm psyched.

Now, I know that the Gods are fickle, childlike Gods but when they start saying things that are so clearly childlike it starts to get to me. For instance, Calypso gave Hades a nickname and I couldn't stand it. Death Boy. I mean, it was fine once or twice but got to me towards the end.

I loved the description of Calypso and how she kept changing her appearance. I wanted illustrations to go with my book!

I enjoyed the story. I love the Gods. Hades has always had my attention but Calypso I didn't know much of anything at all. It was fun to learn.

The alternating points of view were a little difficult to follow. I kept forgetting who I was supposed to be reading about. I'd have to go back and check the heading. That sort of stopped the flow of the book for me.

Still, I do want to read more from this series. I hope they get better and better!

This is a child's writing. Don't waste your time

I'll admit I have not read the book all the way through. I was forced to stop on page 30. This reads like a child wrote it. Like, what a child writes in order to sound more grown up while being woefully unequipped to do so. The heroine is supposed to be ageless but her preoccupations are fantasizing about sex and refusing to call anyone by anything but a derogatory nickname. The only reference I have come across for a woman's genitalia is "down there" but the word ass is apparently ok. A male erection is referred to as a "stiffy." If you're going to write about sex at least use words that don't make you sound comically young and inexperienced, author. She's used the word hawwt in reference to Hades, Lord of the Dead, FFS. Who does that? I don't think there's anything redeeming about the book or the writing that will ever make me want to continue. How disappointing.

A beautiful story

Ghosts of the dead have filled Calypso's waters sending her racing into Hades realm where the gates of hell are closed. She finds that Hades is being accused of murdering Persephone which will give Zeus the upper hand to his brother. Seeing Hades as more than a god she seems him as an end to her virgin goddess card. After all, it's only two weeks while Themis decides if he is guilty perfect for what Calypso has planned.

Returning to her waters with Hades as her prisoner she's determined to take full advantage of her next two weeks with her new sex slave but the more time she spends with Hades she finds herself growing more attached and she isn't the only one falling in love either. As the two weeks come to an end it will be up to Calypso to save her free her dead boy or lose him forever if Zeus has his way.

I adore Calypso she's just the cutest thing when she talks. She may be a primordial goddess older than the Olympians but she still talks like she's so innocent and young. We are given a chance to see Hades in a new light, not as the dark sinister lord of Hell but a true gentleman who's just perfect for Calypso. I also enjoyed seeing Themis and Aphrodite are woven throughout the story they bring a little charm to the story.

I picked this one up on my kindle a while ago but haven't been in the mood for a mythology story until recently. The author has taken two characters who may not have been the heroes in their story adding her own twists and giving them a happy ever after. I wasn't sure what to expect since I'm not super familiar with Calypso but she blew me out of the water. It's hard to not just love her character she's a total sweetheart even if she's a tiger in the bedroom. I loved seeing a new side of Hades he's not what I expected but it works and learning he's actually a gentleman who wanted to do right by Persephone. I really enjoyed the author's storytelling she has created a beautiful enchanting story that captured my heart. I truly enjoyed every page, finding it hard to put down and a little sad when it ended. I highly recommend if you are looking for a unique happy ever after that will make you smile than The Sea Queen is a must.

This is a very good book presenting the traditional view of bioethics, ie., that it is the sort of thing for which rational ethical inquiry can produce solid results. Great introduction to the field.

Great for what I needed it for

I needed to get this book fast, since it was required (and needed right away because it was for an accelerated course) but the instructor didn't list it on the required reading list until the day the class started. I ordered the book and used my Amazon student prime shipping setting and it arrived before my first assignment was due.

The book itself is very clear and concise. One of the best and most interesting textbooks I've ever had to read.

Received this book in very good used condition. It is an excellent guide to drawing. Contains alot of history and examples of artwork done by famous and not so famous artists. It is written in very clear and concise language making it easy to read as well as great for reference. Would recommend it to anyone interested in drawing at any skill level. It is one that I will use for years to come.

Horrible Quality

I agree with the previous review which explains the horrible quality of this textbook. While I am not evaluating the content, I must say I have used it three times and the binding has completely fallen apart. For such an expensive item, this is absolutely unacceptable. I am in the process of contacting Thomson Wadsworth to complain about the issue. I am also asking my instructor to adopt another textbook and to file a complaint with the publisher. I tried to find a hardback copy of this item but could not. If you need to have a sturdy, solid textbook this is NOT for you. I am completely disgusted.

**UPDATE**
After using the textbook for a week, I must say that overall the content of the text is outstanding. As a beginning art student, the text is very accessible and logically arranged. The illustrations are helpful, although almost all are just black and white, and the important terms and concepts are easily noted. However, the binding has COMPLETELY fallen apart; several of my classmates have complained of this as well. Shame on the publishers for such low quality standards...
