This book was helpful, a few dollars cheaper then the one at the college book store but, when your buying textbooks I guess every dollar counts. The expedited shipping took longer than I had hoped so I don't know if the extra money for it was worth it. Overall it's what I needed.

George Wright is currently Professor of Management at Durham Business School, University of Durham, UK. He has consulted and provided management development programmes on scenario thinking and decision making with organizations such as Bayer, EADS, Petronas, Scottish Power, Thales, United Utilities, and national and local government in the UK. He has published on scenario thinking in international journals, including Futures, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, International Journal of Forecasting, Journal of Management Studies, and Organization Studies.

George Cairns is currently Head of School of Management at RMIT University, Australia. He has worked with scenario method and delivered workshops for organizations including National Air Traffic Services, South East England Development Agency, the Facility Management Association of Australia, and the Risk Management Institution of Australasia. He has contributed to a project exploring higher education futures for Romania, funded by the European Social Fund, and has published in international journals, including Technological Forecasting and Social Change and Futures.

Great next step for the beginning chess player.

This is a fantastic book. There are 204 problems, broken down into 64 different "patterns" of piece combinations such as bishop + rook or queen + knight. Mates in up to 5 moves are reverse engineered, step by step, so the student solves the mate in 1 version 1st, gradually working up to the mate in 5 version.

If you're looking to build up your store of basic mating patterns, which find their way into harder puzzle books and real OTB problems, this is a good starting place. I only found 2 errors in the book, which did not take away from the overall quality.

This book doesn't contain any explanations of how the mates work, it is strictly a workbook. Show the pattern, then start the problems. It assumes you understand basic tactical motifs, such as pins, to make your solution work. As an added bonus, each problem contains the full game pgn if you're interested in playing over the entire game.

The overall difficulty of most of the problems is low. The mate in 1s and 2s should be pretty easy for anyone with a rating over 900. The book contains several harder problems and would be beneficial for anyone up to 1500 USCF.

Lei este libro de Paul Auster en tres noches. La historia de Jim Nashe y Jack Possi me parecio intrigante, sorprendente y muy facil de digerir. Lo unico que no me gusto fue el inesperado final, pero aun asi este libro me parecio lo suficientemente delicioso como para retormarlo cada vez que tenia tiempo.
