What BarCharts are NOT: a comprehensive study guide. You cannot do well on a law school exam or bar exam relying solely upon BarCharts. That is not their purpose.

What BarCharts ARE: a condensed overview of the black letter law. Use them as a quick reference to understand the material during the semester. Use them as a REVIEW of the material you (should) have already studied for the exam.

In law school, BarCharts were the last thing I skimmed over before taking an exam. It's a good refresher.

Same with the bar exam. I skimmed over my BarCharts both nights before the exam.

About the Author

Roderick Munday is the Director of Studies in Law at Peterhouse and is Reader in Law at the University of Cambridge.

Having completed his undergraduate studies in Law at Cambridge and having begun research towards a doctorate, Dr. Munday intermitted his research in order to take up a teaching post at the Institut de Droit Compar�, Universit� Panth�on-Assas Paris II. Upon his return to Cambridge he was elected into a Research Fellowship at St. Catharine's College, but shortly afterwards translated to Peterhouse as an Official Fellow. In addition to directing studies, Dr. Munday has held a number of substantial College offices over the years, including those of Senior Tutor and Admissions Tutor. He is also a bencher of Lincoln's Inn. Dr. Munday currently lectures in the Law Faculty on the Law of Contract, Commercial Law, Criminal Procedure and Criminal Evidence, and Comparative Law. His research interests are varied, but have lately centred upon the Law of Evidence, Comparative Law and legal method. He has co-written the leading student textbook on the Law of Agency, and has recently published a fifth edition of his popular textbook on the Law of Evidence as well as co-editing a volume of essays on comparative legal studies. He is editor-in-chief of the Justice of the Peace Law Reports and has written extensively on the subject of law reporting. Dr. Munday holds a part-time visiting professorial appointment at the Universit� Panth�on-Assas Paris II, and in the past has held visiting chairs at the Universit� Paris I Panth�on-Sorbonne, the University of Poitiers, the University of Kansas, the Victoria University of Wellington, and the University of Florida.

About the Author
James N. Danziger is Professor�of Political Science�at the University of California, Irvine, where he also has served as Chair of the Department of Political Science, campus-wide Dean of Undergraduate Education, Chair of the Academic Senate, and Associate Director of the Center for Research on Information Technology and Organizations. He is recipient of many honors and awards, including a Marshall Scholarship (to Great Britain), a Foreign Area Fellowship, Woodrow Wilson Fellowship, Phi Beta Kappa, and an IBM Faculty Award. He received the first UC Irvine Distinguished Faculty Lectureship Award for Teaching in 1987 and the UC Irvine Distinguished Service Award in 1997. His Ph.D. is from Stanford University, and he has held visiting appointments at the universities of Aarhus (Denmark), Pittsburgh, and Virginia. His research has received awards from the American Political Science Association and the American Society for Public Administration. He has published extensively, particularly on information technology and politics, and he is on the editorial board of the International Journal of Electronic Government Research. He has also been an active participant in local politics.

Useful, accessible, and interesting

Over the past decade, I have taught the Intro. to Political Science (201) course several times at my local community college - despite the name of the course, it is often the second course students take, after the Intro. to American Government (101) course. I look forward to teaching it again, perhaps in this coming year. I have always used an edition of Danziger's text, and this latest incarnation will continue to be my choice.

This book introduces the basic elements of political philosophy, political theory, political parties, world politics and international relations, and political institutions. The first chapter sets the stage for the study of political science as a field of inquiry, helping to determine what is and is not an appropriately political question (as opposed to a psychological question, or an historical question, etc.). Obviously there will be overlap in disciplines, but this chapter does a good job at setting out some basic elements in what we know and how we know it with regard to politics.

The book then proceeds to discuss the topic in four major headings: political behaviour, political systems, political processes, and politics among states. For my purposes, I start with the later sections of world politics and work back - I find that students relate to the theories better after we've discussed particulars; this book is good at bringing up important elements and parallels across national lines, political parties, and cultural norms. This latest edition includes updated information on the Iraqi processes toward democracy, Chilean situations with the Mapuche people, Ireland's shift from economic dynamo to struggling economy, and the changing face of both China and the European Union in the modern world. To this extent, I'm working backwards from the way the book is organized, but each chapter does work as a self-contained set of data.

The book is generously supplied with graphics, images, charts and figures, as well as sidebar and boxed information that adds anecdotes, debates and useful discussion points and questions for further thought.

Ultimately, as Danziger states, `The study of the political world is of crucial importance to the creation of humane social life. Ultimately it is up to you, as you read this book, to decide what can be known about politics and whether you think political "science" is feasible.'

perfectly suited for its title

I ordered this book to work on a thesis I was doing for my Mass Comm. focus. I wanted to find a book that gave me some direction on what thinkers from past the present have had an impact on the media environment that we now find ourselves in today. This book was exactly what I was looking for. It gave a small chapter to each philosopher or person who played an important part in the history of journalism and media theory. Furthermore, Altshull writes in an extrememly lucid and simple way - making the book both engaging, easy, and enjoyable without losing any of the important content. His footnotes were very useful for find other sources as well. The organization, presentation, and content found with the pages of this book were perfectly suited for my needs and have helped me handle surbeying the main points I was looking for in each philosopher. I recommend this book to any and all people.

The Best Book That I’ve Ever Read About Pro Wrestling…And I’ve Pretty Much Read Them All.

What do you want from a book about professional wrestling?

I’ll tell you what I want, from the perspective of a fellow pro wrestling enthusiast. I want a book that discusses the pertinent topics that we all love to analyze – the greatest wrestlers, the greatest matches, and the greatest moments – and gives a unique perspective on them; that challenges the way that I think about historical events or the context in which I’d previously viewed various performances. I want a book that readily engages my memory bank and brings to the forefront that which I hadn’t thought about in years. I want to book that reminds me why I spend so much time writing and conversing about pro wrestling.
