Great!

I have never read any of Danielle Steel's books and this is the first book of hers that I am reading. I haven't read the whole thing yet but from what I have read so far it is great. In the first chapter alone it pulled at my emotions. Danielle Steel writes beautifully. I am glad that this book was chosen to read in my book club. Aside from the book itself, it arrived on time. I think it may have arrived faster than expected. Overall, I am happy with the whole experience and the book itself.

5 Breathtaking Stars

I have yet to read a word by Chloe Walsh that I have not fallen madly in love with. With each book her writing gets better and better. Surpassing her last published book when I didn't think it was possible. I really didn't think she could beat Treacherous. Boy was I wrong!

Blurred Lines is unlike ANYTHING I have ever read. Ever. It's hard to even form words to accurately explain my feelings. I swooned hard, loved deeply, even laughed at times. Then I shattered into a billion pieces, my soul was shredded, and my heart wept and broke and splintered. I became enraged and murderous, livid beyond reason. I gasped for air, questioned what the heck I was reading, then fell in love with each and every word as my heart was ripped from my chest. The writing and these words are so breathtakingly beautiful, they live inside you. You live and breathe them, consume and devour them. You see, this book is everything and you will FEEL everything. Chloe's writing is really indescribable when it comes to Blurred Lines. It is complicated and earth shattering and beautiful and just is. It just is and this book just needs to be read.

Blurred Lines is by far Chloe's best work to date and I cannot wait for more from her. Especially a sequel to the story of Cade and Mackenzie. I need more! This is a must read and not only a best read of 2015, but a best EVER read.

Heart-wrenching

Oh, god, this book... I do not even know how to describe it. It was heart-wrenching, heart-breaking, the emotions Chloe Walsh puts you through. Cade and Mckenzie, their love grew over a span of years then they were separated by very evil people who destroyed a young girl and killed many over time. My heart breaks for Mckenzie for being in the position she was in but my heart is also happy for her because she survived and she plans on helping herself before she can truly live again. She is not letting the whole thing break her, she is standing up to fight even if it is herself she has to fight. Oh, god, this book... Seriously! I love it!!

4 hours: the amount of time it took me to devour this book! Chloe Walsh took me on a emotional roller coaster I wasn't ready for. Blurred Lines sucked me in from the first chapter. Walsh writes a powerful and heart wrenching book, with two incredibly broken hearts fighting each other. Cade and Mackenzie were life long friends until one night changed their life, they lost each other, their innocence, and their what could have been. You will love, hate, and break for these characters. Blurred lines is a book I finished, but I won't forget one that I know I will be rereading! Watch out once you read blurred lines you will be addicted.

A wonderful addition to the sci-fi graphic novel genre

The thing I love about a really great graphic novel is how the artists/writers use the interplay between text and art to each component’s full advantage. And in Electromagnate: The Book of Rebel Nations, John Rap shows that he knows how to use words and graphic elements to bring this compelling sci-fi drama to life (though I should mention that several artists were involved, all of whom are generously thanked at the end of the book).

The storyline is an intriguing one, especially considering our increasingly connected global society. The more we allow our lives and beings to be enmeshed with the transfer of information and data, the more we become the information and data. We then become vulnerable to whoever derives power (monetary or otherwise) from controlling that data (i.e., us).

I don’t want to give away too much of the plot arc, because it honestly is a fascinating one to discover. But I have to comment on the book’s brilliant use of the interaction between the words and the illustrations. First off, the illustrations are simply gorgeous. The illustrators all have a fabulous sense of color, and the emotions just pop off the page. Also, I really loved how sometimes the balance of words to illustrations fluctuated, which then tended to bolster the overall dramatic impact.

If you love graphic novels or are just curious about them, give Electromagnate a shot!

A beautiful triumvirate of a graphic novel

I'm not the greatest fan of graphic novels in the world. Really, I'm not. But I got this and I do not regret it in the slightest bit.

With graphic novels, I believe there is a triumvirate to judging its quality, drawing/colors, story/plot, and synthesis.

The color in this wonderful book is brightly lit. The contrasting colors work to literally illustrate how the story unfolds. As an avid reader of words, not graphics, I found myself absorbing the details seeping through the pages. I couldn't stop! I cannot begin to fathom the time and energy spent on creating piece of art. Storywise, the graphic novel falls slightly behind the artwork. Slightly. The story is indeed intriguing. One would not be able to finish this book in one go if only for the colors. I found myself at multiple moments wondering what will next, as I scramble for the next page. What fall slightly behind the artwork is the, at times, mind befuddling, turn of events. However, I wonder if this is a culture issue. I haven't read more than three or four graphics novels in my life, and for that reason, I might find it hard to follow trains of thought prone to exist in graphic novels. Story/Plot 4.5/5

Synthesis is how I consider the artwork and the story to come together. Alone on each of its own, great; but together, they can be beautiful. And this is where Electromagnate really shines. Through the whole book, I could not but marvel how these pages swooped by. Synthesis 5/5

Overall speaking, if you can get this book now before it runs out of stock, I highly recommend it.

Flat Earth Star Wars-Interesting Tale

I have read many science fiction graphic tales but none of them captured my interest like this one. The pictures added are highly illustrative, colorful and very relevant to the incident described. The story is woven around book flat earth theory. Though really that's just one component of electric universe theory. The story flows based on the construction of Tesla's global relay grid and I must say that this book is full of action. The best science fiction fantasy I have ever read and I love it. Recommended.

The 2nd edition of this book is well designed, written and illustrated and is not overly long. As a result it is very clear and easy to read and understand. The focus is on fracture mechanics fundamentals, including basic concepts, analysis, experiments and physical aspects of fracture. It would be a good text for a 1 semester course. However no exercises are given, so the instructor would need to develop these. Also notable is that the cost of this book is very reasonable in comparison to alternatives. Computational fracture mechanics and other modern topics such as cohesive zone modeling, crack tearing using critical CTOA, interface fracture and so on are not discussed.

An excellent, simple-to-understand overview of the subject

In the subject as involved and incomplete as fracture mechanics, this book is what I would call, standard work. For me, this book proved a foundation laying text while workig on my thesis about plane stress fracture toughness testing of polymer films. Authors' style is simple, clear and easily understandable --which is hard to find in the books dealing with fracture mechanics.

This book explains principles of fracture mechanics in detail. Therefore, it is very easy for a beginner to understand. This textbook is the best one I can find at present.

A great book -- and an unbelievable price!

Although slightly dated Managing Change has become a classic of the genre and a favourite of business schools. For good reason. The book comprises some of the most useful academic articles on change management published in academic journals in the 1980s and early 1990s as well as case studies. The latter are well selected and will help to generate furious debate in any group that studies them. Jick's own contributions provide balanced and thoughtful links between the pieces as well as several articles on issues like the role of vision statements and implementing change.
Any one interested in change management will need this book. Although there are no `formulas' for the right way to introduce change programs, a thoughtful reading of the material in this book can only improve one's ability to implement change and to understand how others react to it.
Why four stars rather than five? The price of the book is unbelievable and (I suspect) hard to justify given the large numbers which would have sold in business schools. It's sad that no paperback edition is available for students either. I understand an updated edition is being prepared.

One of the great books on time management.

Professor Todd Jick, one of the great people in a respected field of time management, produces a great source of needed information. It talks about honchos of GM, Motorola among others, and helps you also with sales and brunches and things that can really improve your life in drastic ways. Professor Jick should definetley writew a second, because this one has really helpedme grow in many ways. He has helped many because of this book. Read it!

If you have no time for change management, this is it.

Professor Todd developed the book for his students at Harvard, using the case study approach. And ,of course, it is an excellent text to be used in the class room. But the beauty is that it is an extremely readable book, not heavy, not your typical book by a professor.
It conveys the concepts in a series of simple and elegant reading materials and cases. And it feels great to read case-studies about the inside workings of many corparate titans like Bob Galvin (Motorola), John Reed (CITIGROUP), Jack Welch (GE) and many more.
The book is great, but more so for people who do not come from the behavioural sciences or organization development background, but just plane business background. It zeroes in on and enunciates the key concepts of leading and managing change. It walks you through a series of cases illustrating not only what to do , but what not to do. And the cases have a tremendous variety to them ranging from merger situations to executives being brought in from the outside to internal organizational programs.
If you have time for not even one book on change management, this is it.

About the Author
Peter Woolley has been a professional watercolour artist since 1986. His work has been exhibited across the UK and he tours extensively in the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District, from where he gathers the inspiration for his beautiful landscape subjects. Peter runs weekend courses across the North of England throughout the summer months and has published books and DVDs on watercolour as well as appearing on television in the UK. His work has been published as Limited Edition prints and Art cards and can also be found in private collections throughout Great Britain and overseas. Peter has recently been appointed art tutor on board Saga, Fred Olsen and CMV Cruises. This is his first book with Search Press.

Not a step-by-step

I am very fond of this artist's work, but this is not the step-by-step instruction I was looking for. Basically, it is a brief description of pigments etc. and the final work in full color-- albeit there are copies of each of the underlying picture that you can pull out trace. If you buy this book, you would be well review this artist's You Tube videos first to get a handle on his approach to color mixing and application. Fortunately, as he tends to use a very limited palette, this is not hard to do.

What an awesome book. My drawing skills are lacking, but Peter's sketches are included within this book, and you can create beautiful paintings, using his sketches. Each project lists the colors necessary to complete the paintings, along with a brief description of how he accomplished each painting. Basic instructions are also included at the beginning of the book. A well thought out book. Service was great from Amazon, as well. Thanks Peter Woolley. Five stars !!!!

Sir Charles George Douglas Roberts, KCMG, FRSC (January 10, 1860 – November 26, 1943) was a Canadian poet and prose writer who is known as the Father of Canadian Poetry. Paul Bransom (1885–1979) was an illustrator of animals. Born in Washington, D.C., he began his career as a technical draftsman and comic strip artist.

A Walk in the Woods?

This exceptional collection of short-stories by Canadian poet Charles G D Roberts was published in 1914 and was part of his huge body of work. Often considered the Father of Canadian Poetry he was best known for his short fiction on animals and nature. In Hoof and Claw we find 14 stories, mostly about animals and people who live and work in the back country of Canada. Being something of an armature naturalist who's training stemmed from his experiences growing up in the far north, Roberts gives you an intimate view of the creatures he wrights about. Arctic Fox, Bald Eagle, Mink, Canadian Lynx and the Great Gray Owl are just some of the "wild brethren" in his stories. A stand-out for me was the story about a young girl trying to get home to her family in the back woods and being stalked by a starving Black Bear. Another relates the adventures of a bi-plane pilot who runs afoul of some Bald Eagles defending their territories from this strange invader. The story about the problems caused by fishermen's basket filled with just-caught fish is amusing and probably stemmed from one of the authors personal experiences. Roberts writing is, well, poetic and in the flowery style prevalent at the turn of the 20th Century. He endows his animals with some human characteristics that border on anthropomorphism, but he gets his point across. Sometimes that's the only way an author can explain what's going on in the animal-character's mind during the story. Recently Robert Bakker used the same technic in his novel Raptor Red. While I had no technical or formatting problems with this "free" Kindle edition there were a few issues I didn't like: for one thing there was no Table of Contents and another is the fine paintings by Paul Bransom, that graced the original hard-bound edition, are missing. I guess that's what you get when you opt for the "free" edition. Kindle does offer other editions of this book that do have a charge. With those you would probably get the TOC and maybe the illustrations as well. As I read the book I kept track of the story titles and their locations #s for future reference. I have posted the TOC in the comments. All in all this was an entertaining read and a nostalgic trip down Memory Lane.

A beautifully written collection of nature-themed short stories

This is a collection of short stories focused on nature, animal and human interaction and animal-animal interaction.
Due to the era in which it was written, some of the stories seem a little barbaric in their portrayal of man, which is appropriate for the time but may disturb some readers today. The author was well known at the time for his poetry and each story is beautifully crafted and just wonderful reading. If you are an outdoors person or love nature/animals, or simply appreciate beautiful descriptive writing then this is for you.
